In today’s issue, we discuss how to get your user to fall in love with your product right away
Brought to you by:
“AHA I see what the deal is”
That’s what you want your user to say when they try out your product for the first time
It’s a feeling more than anything
And it’s very psychological.
Mike - a 30 something year old man from Austin finds himself browsing on Product Hunt looking for something to solve his problem
He wants to build a quick landing page for his info product
After a few red bull-induced searches, he finally finds something he likes
Mike checks out the landing page, sees the product demo, skims the copy, checks the pricing
And says to himself
“This could be interesting”
He sees a 7-day free trial to try out the product
He enters his name and email
“Let’s see how this goes”
Upon clicking the button Mike moves from casual onlooker to becoming a user
And in return for becoming a user, Mike wants something in return
He wants to solve the exact problem he sat down to do - build out his landing page
This journey from signing up to experiencing the core value of your product is known as “activation”
And this journey from A to B has to be as short as possible
Zero friction, zero resistance - all Mike (or any user) cares about is to get to his final destination quickly and painlessly
If your product is simple like a content repurposing tool, then all the user has to do has to do is enter his article URL and get back a tweet thread
“AHA this is pretty cool”
Example: Typefully, Carrd, PDF.ai
Try out these products and you’ll see how fast the AHA moment is
You literally go from zero to one in seconds
It’s frictionless and simple
All three of these products have a good solid MRR
Now if it’s a slightly more complex product like an SEO analytics tool, then you can have mini AHA moments guiding the user from one small dopamine hit to the next
For example, you could have Mike enter his URL and get an audit of his current SEO traffic sources.
Ahrefs does this very well - has a bunch of free tools to give you value and then slowly eases you in into the main product
The goal here is to think about your product’s core solution, core value proposition and your one core promise that you provide to your users
And get Mike to say “Aha I get what this does - its pretty cool!”
Attract & close high-intent buyers from your landing page
99% of startups fail because they can’t find product-market fit. Especially in the early days when you’re spread thin between building out your product & talking to customers. Both of which are non-negotiables.
Your landing page is the first thing that prospects see when they land on your page. Your copy needs to communicate your value prop effectively & target their pain points and how your solution helps them.
Copywriting is more than just words. It’s sales. And you need to invest in a salesman that does the selling for you 24*7 even when you’re asleep.
But who can you trust with this?
Well, the gentleman who left the above review got a before-after version of his landing page (pipl.ai)
He saw a 21% increase in conversion on his page and guess what?
He made $10k in sales for his SaaS. Talk about a high ROI.
Not going to guarantee that this will 100% happen for you too but a man can try :)
